Teavigo® is Taiyo’s green tea extract with high-purity decaffeinated EGCg (=Epigallocatechin-3-Gallate). It contains more than 94% of this major catechin and is perfect for the use in dietary supplements, beverages, dairy or as antioxidant for foods and confectionary without tea taste or color.
Various studies show that EGCg is the main contributor to many health benefits of green tea as heart health, weight control or oral care. Moreover, it has long been known — and demonstrated in numerous studies — that green tea catechins and EGCg, have antibiotic and antiviral properties. Nowadays in particular, these benefits are more important than ever for consumers. At the same time, consumers are increasingly looking for properties as origin and naturalness.
In that context, there are good news for consumers and for manufacturers, who would like to add Teavigo® as ingredient for their food, beverages or dietary supplements. According to the International Organization for Standardization technical specification, ISO 19657:2017, Taiyo’s Teavigo® green tea extract is a 100% natural ingredient. As a result it is possible to claim “natural green tea extract” on product labels.
After Sunfiber®, Sunphenon® TH30 and Vegemeat S-1, Teavigo® is the fourth Taiyo product, receiving this certification. However, Taiyo is going to certify more products to underline their quality and differentiate them from synthetic ones.
